Upcoming Show: Diverse Perspectives

July 7th and 8th I will be joining twenty other artists in the celebration of Artown and in the fight against ALS. We take over a gorgeous park-like yard in old southwest Reno, set up our booths, and dazzle the eye with an array of mediums, passions and disciplines. Basket makers, ceramicists, painters, sculptors, jewelry makers, glass workers, photographers….   This is our fourth year and each year it gets bigger and better. We time our show with other art events in the neighborhood. People take advantage of this and enjoy the different venues. Last year Diverse Perspectives attracted around four hundred people! We also raised thousands of dollars for the ALS Association.

I had a great show last year which motivated me to work harder this past year. Drawing from my adventures in the great outdoors, I focused on capturing climbing escapades around the Mont Blanc massif in France; a kayaking trip up Glen Canyon, and hikes around good ol’ Reno.

Aiguille du Midi
Aiguille du Midi – 12 x 16 – You can take a gondola to the top. The needle on top is a lodge from which climbers and skiers embark on a plethora of adventures. This is a view from Chamonix, France in mid September.
Kayaking Glen Canyon
Kayaking Glen Canyon – 30 x 40 – We spent three days eddy hopping to get as far up the canyon as we could. The currents were quite strong the closer we paddled to the dam.
Flora Lake II
Flora Lake II – 16 x 20 – A meandering trail at Donner Summit leads to this lake. A quickly brewing thunder storm send us racing back to the car. I had painted two small studies that I didn’t want to get wet. This piece is based on those studies.
