Thawing Out – Chickadee Ridge 8″x 10″

Intrigued by melting snow revealing what’s underneath, I decided to let what’s underneath the paint to show. The wood panel support peeks out between layers of paint.

This piece is painted on 3/4  inch pine panel box. The sides are natural wood.

Relations 11″x 14″

The offspring shelters the original pine. These two can be glimpsed as you drive up Donner Pass Road. Painted onsite.

July Snowfield – North Tahoe Rim Trail 2′ x 4′ sold
Blown 11″x 14″

This pine along the Tahoe Rim Trail is on the verge of being blown over. Sketched on site and finished in the studio, palette knife strokes capture the flailing branches and the weathered bark.

Painted on 1 and 1/2 inch panel board, the painting wraps around the sides.

Ancients in the Golden Hour 3’x 3′

Walk the 4 mile loop in the Schulman Grove in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest and witness the oldest living beings on Earth. This grouping of pines danced.

Painted on 3/4 inch canvas, this piece is unframed with solid color on the sides. It is wired and ready to hang.

Dead Horse Point 2′ x 4′

This State park outside of Moab, Utah offers expansive vistas into Canyon Lands. Blinding brilliance glints off of the tops of deep, shaded canyons.

Incline Peak Summit 12″x 16″

I have skied to the top of Incline Peak many times and I love the glinting lake set amidst a ‘sea’ of mountains.

Looking Up 9″x 12″

On clear blue days these trees offer a shady spot to listen to the breeze in the pine needles. I also liked the old intertwined in the younger.

Ancient Bristlecone 22″x 26″

Our guide book on the ancient Bristlecones noted that many of the trees are at least 4,000 years old. This was one of the largest along the trail.

Painted on gessoed Masonite, this artwork couldn’t be contained within the board and I painted into the frame.

Maroon Phalaenopsis Orchids ll 9″x 12″

The natural pine panel acts as a neutral backdrop to curious orchids.

Rust and Roses ll 12″x 16″

An old smelting pot and dried roses symbolize Nevada’s history. They also make for a great study in textures and color.

This artwork is painted on 1 inch canvas, unframed. The painting wraps the sides.

Bonzai Rock 8″x 10″

I have enjoyed paddling Tahoe in winter when the lake is quiet. It also affords on-the-water views of familiar places.

Maroon Phalaenopsis Orchid

This orchid grew in my bathroom for years. Finally, it caught my attention and said, “You need to paint me.”
